생일을 축하합니다 Lucy and Russ!

Funny Signs Part 3:

This "Bike King" store sign looks vaguely familiar.  All of the sudden I am very hungry for a Whopper...

A store would never get away with something like this in America, but over here things like trademarks and copyrights really don't mean anything.  You can pretty much put any logo on any item and get away with it.  Often when you are shopping in the cheaper markets you will see a shirt with a North Face tag and it will have the Columbia logo embroidered on it (and usually something is spelled incorrectly).  If you are looking for an item that is for sure not a knock off you have to go to the department store and get charged an arm and leg, but why do that when you can get a cheap knock off?

Happy Birthday Lucy and Russ!

Lucy and Russ' birthdays are 4 days apart, so many years we celebrate them with a combined party.  I often feel bad for Russ because this means that he hasn't had a "grown up" birthday celebration in 8 years.  One year he had a Care Bear party, another an Elmo, one year it was Blues Clues and so on.  I had hopes of separating them this year, but in the end we had a combined celebration again.  Thankfully, he is very easy going and doesn't mind sharing his birthday celebration with his daughter.

She went to bed 7-
And woke up 8-

The night before Lucy's birthday a big snow storm hit and so the girls had a snow day on her birthday. There was also a small football game that was played on her birthday (we are 14 hrs ahead of the East Coast, so we have Super Bowl Monday morning instead of Super Bowl Sunday.  The military gives the men the day off as a "training holiday" so that they can stay home and watch it. Only in America would you get a day off to watch a football game.), so we stayed home in the morning and watched football then we took her out for lunch to a small burger place right down from the base that she picked.

That evening she picked her favorite dinner and we had a small celebration at home.
Decorations + presents + Noodles and Tuna casserole (her favorite dinner) + chocolate cake = Lucy's perfect birthday celebration

The many faces of Lucy-this is pretty much how she looks all the time.
Blowing out her candles-
The best part of blowing out the candles is licking the cake off the bottom of them.
 Opening presents-
The Three Stooges from Ben and Papa.  She has already watched a bunch of it and laughed hysterically.  We had to tell her and Taylor that they weren't allowed to pull any of the stunts on each other or they couldn't watch it anymore.
American Girl gift card from Grammy and Papa

Probably her favorite gift of the night.  A disco ball from Aunt Kate and Uncle Casey.  There is a party every night in Lucy's room.
I do not like to wrap presents and I'm terrible at it.  (Ask my mom, I used to give her her Christmas present in the bag it came in.  I would just tape it closed.)  So, this was the best I could wrap this gift.  We had fun having her guess what it was.
She got Disney Just Dance for the Wii from Mom and Dad.  Here she is playing it.
A few family pictures-
Happy 8th Birthday Lucy!! We love you.

Russ was able to take the day off on his birthday.  I didn't get any pictures of him opening his presents because we did it before the girls left for school.  He and I spent the day hiking in Seoul (another 15 degree hiking day), which will be another blog post.

About once a month a group of our friends get together for dinner and a game night.  That evening we had them over for a birthday celebration.  We actually did a combined birthday celebration with Russ' birthday, Lucy's birthday and our friend who's birthday was the next day.

Blowing out their candles on the cake.
Only Lucy got presents that night.  She was thrilled.
Thanks for the presents!
If you know Lucy at all, you know this is the most perfect shirt for her.  She loves it.  Check out the pose, that is all her.  I just said "I want to take a picture of your shirt" and that is what I got.
