A Visit From Grammy and Audrey

Lots of visitors and activities lately...between guests in our home, a once in a lifetime vacation (which I will blog about later) and the holidays our calendar is very full and my days are flying by.   In the middle of November we were blessed to have Russ' mom and niece come for a short visit.  They were only able to be here for about 10 days but we made the most of their days here.
Riding on public transportation is one of the best parts about living in a huge city.
Fooling around while we wait for the train to arrive.

By the end of their visit, Audrey was a pro at using the subway.  She was even swiping her card like the Koreans do-through her wallet without taking it out.
One day we toured the palace and visited a temple.
We shopped in the markets and ate street food.
We took them to visit Dr. Fish.
This was my favorite picture.
We ate traditional Korean food.
Audrey, Lucy and I went into the Ice Gallery.
Went to the Lantern Festival.

By this point in our tour in Seoul my family has done most of the tourist attractions at least once.  But one place we had not yet visited was Bukchon Hanok Village.  Hanok Village is a Korean traditional  village and is preserved to show the style of homes from about 600 years ago.  This village was at one time the residential quarters of high-ranking government officials and nobility during the Joseon Dynasty.  This was one of my favorite things we did during their visit.  The area was beautiful to walk through.  The houses were very well preserved and they have done a good job keeping the traditional style of houses all through out the area.
They have a walking tour through the area and here I am trying to figure out which way we are supposed to walk next.
Audrey brought her own camera and took tons of pictures.  It was fun to watch her take pictures to help her remember her trip to Korea.
We visited a small embroidery museum on our tour.
The screen behind us is all embroidered, not painted.  It was beautiful.
These information people in red coats and hat are stationed at many of the main tourist attractions and are available to answer questions and give directions.
Russ and I had a Marine Ball to attend during their visit.  So Grammy stayed home with the girls and they had a fun evening of crafts and dance parties.
Having people come visit us makes our time here go fast.  We are so thankful for family and friends that are willing to fly around the world and pay the money in order to come see us.
